St. Louis King of France holds its Baptisms on the 3rd Saturday of each month after the 4:00pm Vigil Mass. The Baptismal Ceremony is performed by our Pastor, Rev. Mark Raphel or Deacon Glen Casanova. Parents are asked to call or come to the rectory at least 3 weeks prior to the desired date, At this time, the parish secretary will ask you for information required for our records. All information requested is required by the Archdiocese of New Orleans and must be completed in full in order to be approved for the ceremony to occur.
The child's parent(s) or legal guardian(s) are the only ones who can request that the child be baptized.
If the child was born outside of wedlock, an Affidavit of Non-Marriage is filled out in full, by BOTH parents, and legally notarized.
Anyone requesting Baptism that lives outside of our parish MUST obtain permission by their "home" parish to have their child baptized in our church.
We require a copy of the child's Birth Certificate.
Godparents: We require proof of confirmation for each Godparent. This is obtained by contacting the Church where they were Baptized, or the Church where they were Confirmed, BOTH Churches would have this information. If a Godparent was Baptized or Confirmed at St. Louis King of France, the information will be in our record books and verified by our staff. Godparents who are NOT confirmed cannot stand as a

Let me assure you that the paperwork required is requested on a daily basis, is easily obtained, and only requires a phone call.
On the day of your child's Baptism, you will receive a Baptismal Certificate signed by the priest/deacon who perforrns the ceremony. There is no "cost" to have your child Baptized in our Church, however, a donations are accepted and appreciated.
